I finally went to the top of “our” (elbow and I) hill today. I miss her but will love another doggie when she comes to me.
This is the kind of thing I am thinking of now. I dont know where it will go. Often the imagery is in a nebulous place first. I want to focus on grasses and maybe the minimalist quality, contrast of land and sky, but yet the evidence of the life of the grass through the snow is where it begins.
Its always such a whoosh when I finish a major work. I am thinking about grasses now. New research to begin.
This was taken outside Troy, New York, during the Ice Storm last year. I am thinking of the way Nature’s creations are presented to us daily, each with a particular light and sensibility
Here is a picture of the red barn at the bottom of the hill by my house, as seen from the road I walk on to my studio. My studio is past this, turn a corner onto the road below, and walk back to just below my house at the bottom of the hill. Because of this, every time I walk from the house to the studio there are new things to see and new things that enter the work. I have found, over the years, that I am deeply rooted in time and place. I can work in any place; but whatever that place is, it becomes embedded in the visual syntax.
